One approach to achieving this goal is via gamification, which involves using game-based elements in educational settings to raise the cybersecurity awareness. This topic will explore the theoretical foundations of gamification and its potential applications for building cybersecurity competencies. Then, it will showcase innovative solutions and case studies from higher education institutions that have successfully implemented gamification. It also provides a better understanding on how gamification can be leveraged to enhance cybersecurity education in higher education and the benefits and challenges associated with its implementation.

Learning objectives:

  • Cultivate a culture of cybersecurity awareness via gamification among students, faculty, and staff in higher education institutions
  • Identify challenges and promote opportunities for delivering cybersecurity education and training in higher education and developing effective pedagogies for cybersecurity in edutainment
