Dr. Sakinah Ali Pitchay

Dr. Sakinah Ali Pitchay is an Associate Professor at the Information Security and Assurance Programme at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. She received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham, UK, and her Master's Degree in Software Engineering from UTM KL. She obtained her bachelor's degree from UMT. She serves as the Head of Programme in Computer Science since 2015 till 2020. Currently, she has been appointed as the Deputy Dean starting Jan 2021. She has a passion for image enhancement, software engineering, and information security. She was the invited keynote speaker in 2nd Advanced Research in Engineering and Information Technology (AVAREIT) in 2018, invited speaker at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Japan in 2018 and the 11th International Conference on Green Technology in Oct 2021 organized by Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Malang, Indonesia and also speaker for USIM Graduate Employability Seminar 2021. She has been invited to serve as the invited speaker for various Hackathons, LinkedIn workshops and student development talks. She won many innovation competitions and was recently awarded the Innovation & Mentorship Figure and Graduate Employability Personality award in 2022. She has been actively contributing her expertise to the Ministry of Higher Education, specifically the Matriculation Division, since 2013. In addition, she has reviewed numerous articles and has been involved in system requirements consultation. She has successfully supervised several postgraduate students and has been appointed as an international external examiner. She also contributes to the society as the online tutor for months organized by Yayasan Petronas as well as in international community activities.
