Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming higher education, yet many institutions continue to address its implications through isolated faculty efforts rather than coordinated institutional strategy. There exist growing concerns regarding academic integrity, critical thinking, policy and governance, inconsistent faculty expectations, and AI literacy. Despite providing numerous professional development activities, a desire to create a more fluid, innovative, and interactive environment that captures the essence of AI technology for teaching exists. To address these challenges, the College of Staten Island (CSI) established an interdisciplinary AI Task Force to develop a comprehensive approach to AI fluency, teaching and learning, workforce preparation, and institutional governance. The CSI AI Task Force was formed to create the foundation that addresses the fears associated with AI and endorse its proper pedagogical use by providing guidance around productive and best practices of AI technology for faculty adoption. The task force created an infrastructure to address governance and policy, faculty development, AI literacy, student support, and shared institutional resources. This presentation will share what the AI task force developed and showcase the results from a faculty cohort that leveraged the AI Task Force initiatives, including: 1) an easy-to-navigate website for access to definitions, tools, and resources, 2) a course for faculty to expand their knowledge and expertise on AI accessible as an OER resource through LinkedIn Learning, 3) AI Policy customized according to faculty syllabi, 4) hands on activities to enhance faculty's comfort level of using AI, and 5) a Teams site used for collaboration, peer feedback, and resource repository. Together, these efforts transformed AI from an emerging institutional challenge into a coordinated, scalable, and faculty-supported digital learning ecosystem.
